Here we are, already on the brink of the May 16th eclipse. These last few weeks flew by in a hectic fog. The pace has really picked up, as predicted. I saw some amazing surprises around that Sun-Uranus conjunction on the 5th and have heard lots of Mercury Retrograde stories already, though it’s only just begun! How does life feel for you? 

As mentioned in my last email, we’ve entered a period of time continuing until late 2023 where we’ll have numerous eclipses in the signs of Taurus & Scorpio. Knowing the eclipses will happen in these particular Zodiac Signs is important, as it allows us to predict which areas of your life you can expect changes on the road ahead.

The dates of these eclipses are laid out on the calendar below. 

First of all, WHAT ARE ECLIPSES?

Every month we have at least one New Moon and one Full Moon, which happen when the Sun & Moon form an alignment in our sky. An eclipse is a special phenomenon occurring when the New or Full Moon also aligns with Earth. Instead of just the Sun and Moon in alignment, the Sun, Moon & Earth ALL COME INTO ALIGNMENT on an eclipse. As you might have guessed, alignment is the key concept here.  

Eclipses tend to ALIGN US TO OUR LIFE PATH. They offer us a chance to realign our human will (the desires of our ego) with the divine will (the intentions of our soul).

Humans are quite dynamic beings, aren’t we?! We often feel pulled in multiple directions. Part of us wants this; part of us wants that. We become confused about which of our values take precedence, we get out of balance and follow shiny objects that lead us astray from our purpose. And that’s okay!!!! Eclipses keep us on course so we don’t wander too far from the things our soul really came to do.

I compare eclipses to the gutter bumpers used at bowling allies that help kids get their ball down the lane to the pins. You are the ball, the pins are your destiny, and the bumpers are eclipses 😛 So if you’ve wandered off course, not to worry…the planets (using some combination of pleasant or unpleasant events) WILL KNOCK YOU RIGHT BACK TO A BETTER PATH. Here I go quoting Mom again – “God sometimes does for us what we can’t do for ourselves.” That’s an eclipse for you.

Knowing how astrology works has been such a blessing, because I see that greater forces have always kept me on track. I don’t worry so much about making the “wrong” decisions anymore. Your path will always be righted somehow. 

So how does this “realignment with your life path” happen? Eclipses tend to function in three ways.

• They prompt the SUDDEN REMOVAL of things, people, situations, and patterns from our lives that are not in alignment with where we need to be heading;
• They gift us NEW OPPORTUNITIES, ideas, and information that re-aim our direction; and
• They show us where we’ve gotten out of BALANCE and inspire / require us to even things out.

How will these eclipses IMPACT YOUR LIFE?

Tomorrow’s Full Moon Eclipse may present some intense situation to your life. The energy on full moons always gets us CHARGED UP and from time to time, some emotional peak or drama ensues. And the location of this FULL MOON ECLIPSE ups the ante big time. A full moon in Scorpio suggests emotional intensity, power or control dynamics that cut deep. The square to Saturn suggests feeling helpless or held back by some BS you just don’t want to deal with anymore. And Mars conjoining Neptune will tempt you to escape by any means necessary. This is definitely a time where some situation could test your ability to stay cool. I’m feeling the build as I right this and am preaching to myself as much as you when I say – BREATHE; trust whatever you’re dealing with will pass; and be cautious in choosing your escape route. I have a good novel handy to replace my reality as needed!

As for the entire 2-year period mentioned above, note these eclipses are happening in the FIXED signs of the Zodiac. That word “fixed” says it all. If you’re stuck in any old pattern, rut, or rigid way of doing things, expect your circumstances to force you to do something different this time.

Aries or Libra

Be on the lookout for changes and opportunities related to your values, material resources and support system. For you these eclipses are falling in the 2nd & 8th houses of your chart, both of which relate to our basic needs. The 2nd house governs one’s ability to be independently secure, autonomous and self-sufficient. The 8th house governs interdependence and sharing, both materially (joint assets) and emotionally (vulnerability & intimacy). These eclipses could bring changes in the amount or sourceof your income and/or your partner’s income. There could be sudden windfalls, sudden losses, or unexpected events that make you more of a giver or receiver of support in your partnerships. Take advantage of every opportunity to better balance these polarities. Build trust in your ability to sustain yourself, while also trusting that at times it’s appropriate to take risks by giving/sharing/building/collaborating with others. We can’t favor stability over vulnerability, independence over interdependence, giving over receiving, nor vice versa. Life is a flow, and there will always be give and take in your life. We have to master both! 

Taurus or Scorpio

It goes without saying that eclipses happening in Taurus & Scorpio are EXTREMELY important for Taurus and Scorpio people!!! These eclipses fall in the 1st & 7th houses of your natal chart and thus, have the potential to affect your life on a total / global level. The 1st house governs the self, one’s appearance, body, point of view, identity and character. The 7th house relates to others, specifically romantic partners, business partners, best friends, and how you experience relationships. Eclipses in the 1st house often bring changes in how we present / carry ourselves, how we want to be seen, and how we express our personality to the world. Eclipses in the 7th house bring developments and awakenings in how we interact in relationships, how we cooperate and compromise with people who – while very important to us – have totally different expectations, opinions, values and needs than we do. Watch for changes in dynamics between you and others in your life. The circumstances and feelings you encounter may ask you to realign with a better path – one where you know how to balance being yourself AND compromising with the people who’re important to you.

Gemini or Sagittarius

For you these eclipses fall in the 6th & 12th houses of your birth chart, which have everything to do with your daily life and routine. Be on the lookout for changes and opportunities in matters related to your physical and metaphysical routines. By physical routine, I’m talking about what’s visible – your practical duties, work life, daily responsibilities, physical health, exercise, diet, and hygiene. When it comes to metaphysical routines, I’m talking about what’s invisible – rest, relaxation, taking care of your mental health and spiritual wellbeing. These eclipses could bring sudden events dealing with one of these life sectors. Or perhaps, important developments in one area will emphasize some addiction to the visible or invisible world, which creates an imbalance between your practical/physical duties and your emotional/spiritual wellbeing. Every area of life is as important as the next. Many of us in the Western world put material demands over everything else. Work and gym days come first; rest, spiritual and mental health take the back burner. Science is finally surrendering to a truth the spiritual community has always known: our physical health is absolutely tied to every other dimension of our wellbeing. Be good to yourself – you are all you’ve got!

Cancer or Capricorn

For you these eclipses fall in the 5th & 11th houses of your natal chart. The 5th house of one’s chart governs what I call “the joys of private life”, including children, romance, sex, hobbies and games. The 5th house is about the areas of life that fire us up in more private/personal ways. Perhaps this is why the 5th house also relates to entrepreneurship and creativity. All who are self-employed or passionate about their side hustle should stay on the watch for fated developments that give you direction! The 11th house is more extroverted than the 5th, encompassing our social life, friend groups, social media networks, and professional associations. Be on the lookout for beginnings, endings, and major changes related to any of these sectors of life. It’s a great time for networking and taking advantage of who you know. You may also find yourself hanging with a new “tribe” that resonates with the person you’re becoming. Lastly, pay attention to where your joy comes from and the things / people you depend on to feel happy. Are you able to enjoy yourself while spending time with others? And do you equally know how to love your own company? This period of time presents new windows of opportunity to better balance your sources of pleasure.

Leo or Aquarius

These eclipses are extra powerful for Leo & Aquarius people, as they land in your 4th & 10th houses. These houses carry primary importance in your life. The 4th house governs the most private sector of one’s life – the internal self, one’s emotional baseline, your home, property, and family. It’s no coincidence that in astrology, the “inner self” falls in the same sector of the chart as “home and family”. That’s where your inner voice got its first training. Maybe it’s time for changes in that inner monologue, adopting a new perspective, and repeating mantras that reprogram your habitual mood. It’s a meaningful time for developing anything related to writing, marketing or publishing. The 3rd and 9th houses also rule travel, whether that’s running around town in your own community or traveling long distances. Expect sudden changes in the tempo and scope of how far and how often you move about. Lastly, the 3rd and 9th houses are opposites in terms of scale. The 3rd house relates to what’s small, the details, the steps, the micro level of functioning. The 9th house relates to what’s big, the big picture, the inspiration and vision, the macro level of functioning. Do you function equally well on both levels? Maybe you’re someone who gets stuck in the details and can’t see the forest for the trees. Or maybe you’re someone who has big visions without the patience for laying out the small steps.
