Hi, friends.
When I first reviewed the astrology of 2023, October and November easily stood out as two of the tougher months of our year. From time to time a cluster of planets traveling though one area of the sky aligns with a cluster of planets sitting in the opposite area of our sky. That’s what’s happening now. Astrologers call that an “opposition.” And while I know my astrology lingo misses the mark at times, the word OPPOSITION stands on its own. That’s what we’ve been facing lately, each in our own unique way.
A big aha moment for me recently helped me redefine what strength really is. Strength is not about fortifying ourselves against challenge, but be able to love and care for ourselves well as we accept and work through it. I hope you find yourself more capable each day of doing this – of working through any opposition that’s arisen in your world.
Since some of the themes I gave you for October are still relevant as November begins, I’m starting with a little recap. (It might help to re-read the October forecast altogether).
Mercury is still traveling close to Mars. Last month I said this could increase our tendency to think, speak and act in aggressive, cunning and cutting ways. Mercury-Mars energy is pushy and disagreement prone. A few other alignments I won’t name added the propensity for anger and a potential re-emergence of things we thought we’d already healed from.
What’s more, Mercury and Mars just completed their oppositions with Jupiter, which can make everything seem BIGGER. You may have felt that something (or everything) is “just too much” right now. Jupiter oppositions can bring overwhelm, over-expecting, over-promising, or overshooting our human capabilities. This in turn may result in the perception we’re falling behind or coming up short.
But as we begin November, the Sun brings some strength and fire in the picture. The Sun offers us willpower, fortitude, decisiveness and direction. This may increase your ability to push through some major labor pains for several days. The goal is to use this when it comes, not expecting that we can or should bulldoze our way through November. Saturn is coming to a near standstill, meaning that undercurrent of HEAVINESS, GRAVITY, and LIMITATION is still hanging around. And that’s okay!
Limits aren’t a bad thing. Discovering our limits helps us! Astrologer Adam Elenbaas (one of my absolute faves) once said that when we hit a limit, we learn better how to work – even improvise – so that we may succeed within our boundaries. Brilliant!
So continue that aim of PATIENCE I spoke about in this IG and Facebook post last month. Scale back and stop for a while when your body asks you to.
Having gotten past their oppositions to Jupiter, our trio of planets (Sun-Mercury-Mars) each oppose Uranus in November. The exact dates are:
When you bracket each of these dates with a several-day period of effectiveness, you realize the first half of November is one big Uranus opposition. This is super important to be mindful of! Why?
Uranus may bring you:
Flexibility will be key the first half of the month. Uranus may shake things up but always lands us in a better place than we were originally headed. So don’t be afraid to change your DIRECTION or SPEED when the universe tells you yes, no, or wait in November.
Also common with Uranus oppositions are (1) erratic physical energy, (2) anxiousness, (3) a desire to rebel against the status quo, and (4) a particularly strong need for independence. I have an exact Sun-Uranus opposition in my natal chart and Mom still recounts the first time she heard my 3-year-old self proclaim: “I do my hair myself!” Doing things YOURSELF and doing them YOUR WAY are key themes in November due to all the Uranus oppositions we encounter.
As with all astrology aspects, this is neither good nor bad. Every planetary alignment can be positively powerful if we observe what’s happening, respect it, and look for the opportunity present.
On November 18, an important conjunction occurs between the Sun and Mars. Mars is connected with HOW WE ASSERT OURSELVES and THE WAY WE FOCUS AND EXPEND OUR ENERGY.
The Sun and Mars meet in our sky every two years but their meeting is extra potent this time around and occurs in Mars’ home sign Scorpio. I love the Sun-Mars cycle because we tend think in terms of 1-year and 5-year segments of time. But let’s face it – a year goes by fast, and five years is too far-sighted for many of the goals in your awareness today.
November 18th is your opportunity to reset and begin strategizing toward some commitment using this more reasonable, 2-year mindset! This could be something new or something you started on previously that never gained momentum. The end of November may be tough for getting this going but is actually ideal for adopting your objective mentally and beginning to devise a framework with measurable goalposts. Especially as we get into December, the wind begins picking up speed and with that under your sails, the odds of sticking with your 2-year timeline looks pretty good.
Finally, during the last third of our month (Thanksgiving week for folks in the U.S.), the Sun and Mars square Saturn. The period of time between November 21th and 29th could bring:
Navigating whatever slowdown happens for you late month could be a bit challenging at first. Perhaps it’s a bad time to take off work for the holiday. Or maybe you’ve been running so fast that sitting still feels foreign and difficult to do. But slowing down is definitely the RIGHT thing to do – the astrology says so. And I suspect you’ll be feeling better once you’ve given in and just done it, since the bigger picture shows a drastic LIGHTENING of the energy after the 29th.
And that energy, my friends, will carry us into December, where we pick up a little speed, shrug off some of the weight, and begin executing on our 2-year objectives with a new outlook. Woohoo!
xo,
Jules
