Here we are, beginning a new month in the middle of Mercury Retrograde and eclipse season.
Last month’s astrology played out as expected with pretty major retrograde news. Microsoft had issues on multiple platforms. Microsoft 365 suffered major cloud outages, and students who use Blackboard (a huge online network for teams and schools) couldn’t access the system during college finals. Even greater impact was felt, in my opinion, with Venus square Saturn mid-April. If you had 8-10 tough days mid-April – that was it.
As you already know, each week brings easier and harder days, every month easier and harder weeks, and so forth. There are pockets of intensity in May, but May also brings much-needed clarity to where things are headed in our lives. By the end of the month, we’ll leave behind the frantic pace that’s pervaded the year so far and plant new roots where we feel solid, stable and supported.
Speaking of support, get ahead of the game and put something supportive on your calendar. Thursday, May 11th I’ll be co-hosting an online relationship/compatibility class with professional astrologer Denise Hancock. Entry is just $20. I rarely offer an event at that price. Whether you’re SINGLE or COUPLED, this material will empower you and give you new perspective on nearly every single relationship in your life. Register to attend live or get order the recording HERE.
Now let’s talk about May.
The following are some general themes to watch for throughout the month. It may help to revisit this email a few times as May unfolds.
We have an Eclipse in Scorpio May 5th, the Sun conjoins Uranus May 9th, and Mercury retrograde ends May 14th. Much was said about Mercury Retrograde in last month’s newsletter, and that message continues to apply. So be open to adjustments, revisions, and surprises the first 1 ½ weeks of May. Some turn of events or realization may (1) enlighten you of a better way forward or (2) show you what isn’t working so you can leave it behind.
Our place in the Jupiter-Saturn cycle suggests most of us have some idea about where things are headed in our lives now (barring exceptional circumstances in your personal astrology. If you feel that may be the case, please book a reading!). Since May provides further answers, further information to refine our plans, the biggest mistake we can make is believing we’ve got things figured out and in the bag. STAY FLEXIBLE THE FIRST HALF OF THE MONTH and adjust your life blueprint as necessary.
The second half of May brings POTENT ALIGNMENTS that can root our goals in fertile soil. Around May 16th, we’re asked to commit to our main life objectives on a deeper level. You might say “yes” to some particular path forward. Lean into whatever options seem stable and supportive of your personal growth. The right direction now is the one that’s sustainable and provides prosperity over the long haul.
In fact, you’ll probably be headstrong by the time May ends. Your conviction in what you want and have decided upon is so great, you’ll be impatient with any discussion to the contrary. In a sense, years of life changing beneath our feet will finally amalgamize into new and solid ground.
Be ready to adopt a new pace. There was a tendency to run around and do a lot with Jupiter in Aries the last five months. New projects, new possibilities and leads had us testing the water in all different directions. With Jupiter in Taurus May 16th through May of next year, the goal is slow and steady thoughtfulness, persistent effort and building in a focused direction.
Hidden matters regarding power, liberation and feeling controlled or blocked could also surface this month. Potential manifestations to watch for are:
1) A light may shine on old feelings you haven’t let go of. Sometimes, we hold onto difficult memories in a mistaken or unconscious belief that they fortify or protect us. “Never again”, we say, believing ourselves to be stronger and more powerful. The problem is we simply become more guarded, suspicious and rigid when we hold onto the past and treat it as our shield. When we can’t let things go, our life is controlled and limited by our past. The Full Moon Eclipse May 5th is a good time to air things out and let shit go.
2) Confronting the interplay of willpower and fate. This is a hot topic in astrology – what is destiny and where do we have free will? I believe in both. They are polarities like hot and cold; one can’t exist without the other. Point being, things will happen in life we can’t control. But at no time can we fall prey to the false illusion of disempowerment. There’s always personal freedom, always a decision to be made.
Empowerment for you is always one new choice or one new perspective away. If you feel stuck where you’re at, decide on a change. If unable to make a change, empower yourself by adopting a mindset about your situation that feels good.
Example: I’ve felt disempowered to make a positive impact with my astrology work, because my reach is rather small. After digging for a belief that feels better, I remembered that every cell in my body plays a part in my overall health. So even a tiny human in the network of humanity can make a difference. And of course, this newsletter goes to important people like you! I revisit that perspective when feelings of disempowerment pop up.
Is there somewhere in your life you feel powerless? How can you take your power back?
May 4: Put your ideals into action. If you’ve got a vision but things are falling short of expectations, this energy helps dream up creative solutions.
May 12-13: A good time for sincere conversations to restore harmony where difficulties with others exist.
May 19: Mental focus, practicality and discipline begin a month-long period fit for planning, commitments, and stabilization in places we’ve felt chaotic before.
May 21-23: Rugged strength and intense power surges. Passion and ambition are palpable and give us tremendous potential to bring something to completion these days. The trouble lies in going to far with forcefulness, pushiness, and aggression. High awareness required in our dealings with others.
May 26: Social situations go feel differently than planned, renewing our excitement or prompting relationship breakthroughs.
May 27-28: Stop. Slow down. Rest. Memorial Day weekend is better spent taking an physical break than partying this time around.
In closing, I wish you a wonderful month ahead. Whatever developments may come, things are always working out for you in unknowable ways.
Don’t forget to sign up for the relationship workshop!!! 😊
