Hello, dear friends.
Last month was a whirlwind for me! How was it for you? Venus (the feel-good planet) spent most of last month in a difficult position. Perhaps you’ve had so many tasks, people and meetings to juggle that your schedule – including social and leisure plans – felt taxing. For sure, August required micro management and was full of diversions.
Something I appreciate about September is an increased ability to separate work from play. No doubt, there will be lots of moving pieces to manage. But with Mercury better positioned, September offers enhanced organizational skills and concentration to deal with moving targets. With Venus in better position, too, you will likely find some moments of relief and enjoyment sprinkled throughout the month (particularly the first half).
All in all, I anticipate September will be more predictable than the last few months have been. Unfortunately, for some of us, predictable has come to mean the same old chaos. This month brings us to terms with how the demands of daily life have changed. It is time to decide: will you let life exhaust you or take the “risk” of drawing firm boundaries and prioritizing your sanity? My hope is the latter, so this newsletter includes lots of ideas for helping you do that. The first three sections below contain general themes to keep in mind this month. At the end is a list of important dates to keep handy through September.
Flash back to last month’s newsletter, where we discussed our entry to a year-long period where the urge for growth (Jupiter) will meet with restriction (Saturn). Please know this is not me saying that progress will not happen for a year. What I’m saying is that growth will occur more slowly, and it may look different than we expect. Some ideas to embrace for the next 10 months:
As stated in August, we will see these themes continue to unfold on corporate, organizational, and political levels for about a year. It was zero surprise to see Google face legal repercussions for its growth strategies last month – a perfect example of what we predicted. I’ve heard countless stories from you, too, of hardship and pressure in the workplace. If this is you, I hope the astrology helps you detach from the problem. This is not a time to personalize institutional issues nor take them on your shoulders. Allow the stress tests to happen. Weaknesses in structures / systems need to be exposed or nothing will change.
Bear with me as we zoom out and contextualize the decade we are living in. Beginning in January 2020, the cosmic timeline began signaling an awe-inspiring level of collective crisis and change. I spoke of this in astrology workshops long before 2020 arrived. Then during quarantine, I said one thing over and over when folks asked about the outlook. I said: This is not about a virus but about the social, economic and political change that is trying to happen. What I knew back then was that the astrological calendar for this decade contained:
I am not sensationalizing here. We are amidst a turning point deeper than anything we can wrap our heads around while we’re still in the middle of it.
I say all this to assure and empower you about what’s happening. What’s felt like chaos these last 4 years has been perfect and right on time. But we have further to go. A lot must happen to turn a ship of 8 billion people in a new direction. That’s why NOW IS THE TIME to get used to a different way of life that prioritizes your wellbeing over ALL ELSE.
Over and over in September, the astrology highlights the Virgo-Pisces axis of the Zodiac wheel. This axis represents two polarities of the human experience. Virgo represents the practical necessities of life – taking care of our bodies, performing daily routines, being productive. Virgo strives for perfection and seeks to figure problems out. Pisces, on the other hand, represents the more intangible aspects of life. Pisces is the need for spiritual orientation, imagination, escape and surrender. In short, Virgo cares for the body; Pisces cares for the soul.
The astrology of September force-feeds us one important truth: Spare time isn’t a thing! Waiting for spare time to do the things that make you feel grounded, happy, and whole is like waiting for Sasquatch to walk across your yard. We must be bold enough to turn our calendaring process upside down. First consider the baseline you require for rest, alignment, and solitude. Fill in what’s left over with work and socialization. Of course, certain times in our lives will be busier than others and spread us thin. If you’re temporarily in that place, fair enough. But a schedule that perpetually maxes you out is unsustainable and undermines the quality of your being and your output.
Aside from basic time management, it’s also important that we weave small practices into our routines that strengthen our spiritual equilibrium. I cannot overemphasize how these tiny changes have turned my life around! Some ideas to get you thinking:
Changing my approach to daily life caused a lot of fear when I first did it. My mind would scare me about work consequences and become distracted with all the to-dos. Not only did the fear fade, but my income has nearly doubled, I have less anxiety, and I’m the happiest person I’ve ever been. Say this with me right now: I WILL NEVER BE LAST ON MY OWN SCHEDULE.
September 2-3 | Mars squares Neptune: Obscure feelings may bubble up without reason as we enter the month. You may feel you’re battling forces you cannot see. You may feel lost as to which direction to focus your attention. Sometimes it’s normal to feel weird and aimless. This is one of those times. See it, feel it, let it pass.
September 4 | Mars enters Cancer: We’ll talk more about it next month, when Mars in Cancer comes more into focus. For now, know that moods, emotions, domestic matters and family relationships are more irritable and sensitive this month. This aspect makes us prone to get pissy over small stuff. Everyone needs a bit more rope and space to ALLOW anger, upset, and frustration if they come. You needn’t judge nor rationalize how you feel; the goal is owning and feeling it without losing control of our behavior.
September 7 | Mercury squares Uranus: Discussed at length in your August newsletter. Expect big news, surprises, disruptions and communication/technology snafus around the 7th.
September 8 | Sun opposing Saturn: A lot of discipline, personal restraint and tenacity is required in the days surrounding the 8th. Your confidence may be tested. You may face standards impossible to live up to. Create a diplomatic response now to use later with that boss/client/lover/family member. Kindly ask for their help prioritizing what that they want from you most.
September 15 | Venus trines Jupiter: An extremely favorable aspect between our beneficent planets. I hope mid-month brings you all the rewards, honors, and praise you deserve. If nothing rolls around, treat yourself to something lush, a new set of bed sheets or nice dinner. This time is a very favorable for creativity and diplomacy, too. Lean into tasks that require creative thinking. Initiate conversations to smooth over existing conflicts with others.
September 17-26 | This period we must cautiously navigate. Here we have a mixed bag of magical potential countered with unyielding pressure. On the difficult side, the details of daily life may stand in stark contrast the big picture and the way you want life to feel. You may go back and forth between pushing for perfection and productivity, then throw your hands up and totally check out. At times you may feel inordinately strong and focused, then in others you feel powerless. If you need an escape this month, wind down mindfully. The toxicity of food, drugs and alcohol peaks when the Virgo-Pisces axis is highlighted.
Nonetheless, during this very same time frame, planets will move through two magical patterns in the sky, a “grand trine” and a “kite” formation. These patterns show that – despite whatever pressure you’re dealing with in your life – you are full of manifestation potential. How can you use that? Manifestation requires no more than consciously infusing our efforts with CREATIVE INTENTION. What are you trying to create? What do you want to come to fruition? Write this stuff down. Put it in your pocket. Keep it in the forefront of your mind and heart this month. Treat all you do and say as if the universe is hearing you. It is! 🙂
I understand these newsletters contain a lot of information, and it is hard to keep these ideas fresh in your mind as weeks go by. Some folks refer back to these newsletters when important things happen, but you can also follow me on FB and IG, where I’m giving timely reminders of what’s happening throughout the month.
It’s an amazing time to be alive, guys…to witness a world under this decade-long process of change with astrology at our disposal to understand it! I think the mantra below beautifully reflects our goal:
You have to make your own world, instead of succumbing to the one that presses on you. You must turn the tables on what appears to be fate or the full weight of society. Against the greatest odds, keep your wits about you and refuse to surrender to anyone or anything less than divine. ~ Thomas Moore
