Hi, friends!
Thanks for joining me to look at the gateway March lays before us. Actually, it’s more of a month-long tunnel than a doorway we step right through. While a new phase of life is ahead for each of us, it’ll take a full month of shifts to get there. An incredible 7 out of 10 planets (Moon included) change signs this month, Mercury does so twice. What a ride it will be!
March offers a vast range of potential for feelings and real-life events. Expect your mood to wax/wane noticeably as the month progresses and hang tight as it happens. Things ARE falling into place. Don’t let any day, week or passing emotion fool you otherwise. 😊
First note the advantageous energy at our fingertips this month around the following days:
I won’t elaborate on those individually. Just know that woven into more prevalent themes this month are some good moments, positive news, developments, days of ease, and inspirational energy to draw upon. In fact, more supportive influences than I’ve listed above are scattered through the month. Those are just highlights.
But every month is a mixed bag. And you’re more likely to turn to this forecast to navigate the challenging snippets of time. We don’t need to find peace on easy days – it’s already there. We need help summoning it on days of unease. Astrology assists us by letting us peak behind the curtain of a rough day and see how passing influences might be pulling our thoughts, feelings and actions in a particular direction. I keep that in mind when writing to you.
Similar to last month, the Full Moon this month looks weighty and dramatic. Saturn has been in Aquarius since March 2020 and finally changes signs, doing so simultaneously with a Full Moon square Mars. Wow!
As March 6th and 7th roll around, watch for feelings and information that pull you in two directions – head vs. heart, the dream vs. the facts, the big picture versus the details. You may feel pushed to act in a murky situation. Do what you must, but postpone decisions until after the 18th if possible. It’s not a time for clarity, and there’s more to consider than you might see in your moment of tension.
Neptune gains influence around the 9th and increases throughout mid-month. For that and other reasons, BE INCREASINGLY MINDFUL THROUGHOUT THE WEEK OF MARCH 12-18.
Neptune is a foggy, oceanic influence. It is neither “good” nor “bad”, but can fall anywhere on the spectrum from beautiful and dreamy to delusional and distracting. In March, Neptune’s influence may cause unease and in many cases, it might be hard to pinpoint WHY you’re feeling the way you do. A few examples of how this can show up:
Just remember that every astrology aspect offers us something valuable. An imaginative solution or adjustment may arise, which might not have in your typical state of mind. This could be an opportunity to try something new or responding to others or your own feelings differently than you have in the past. A dose of compassion and patience for ourselves that week will be helpful.
Jupiter and Saturn relate to how we serve our purpose in the world. In December 2020, they came together and planted a new seed for each of us. And like a little green sprout just poking through the soil, evidence of something new is finally here!!!
Despite that evidence of progress, think of how much work the seedling’s push through the dark, dense soil these last 2 years took. We may feel a little fatigue mid-month month, especially as we recognize how much further we have to go! That’s March in a nutshell. A famous astrologer described it as:
He also provides guidance – it is NOW that we must RENEW our FAITH in the viability of LONG-TERM process. That is not to say we can’t feel disheartened, doubtful, and just plain tired for a bit. At the same time, we can cultivate a belief waaaaay down in the depths of self that things will definitely develop over the long run.
Fatigue is never a sign you won’t make it. In fact, the brilliant James Hillman says that the closer you get to your soul’s calling, the more likely fatigue will set in! How about that?!!
In his book, The Soul’s Calling, Hillman says that when we get close to our calling, we become so focused and driven that we go, go, go beyond what’s realistic for our physical being. Why? Because the calling is not fatigable. IT IS A DIVINE, RELENTLESS, AND IDEALIZED IMAGE THAT NEVER STOPS CALLING US FORTH… not when we need rest, not ever.
So we must continue our attempt to answer our calling while recognizing its relentlessness. Your calling does not supersede your human needs. We see this in extraordinary artists who push themselves to literal death. We cannot BE but can only INTEGRATE our soul’s calling into our human lives. And stop when we need to, assured we will be here as long as our work is undone.
As I said in our 2023 Calendar, this New Moon is a powerful one. The first degree of Aries is all about syncing our earthly self with its divine purpose. This New Moon promises breakthroughs in your understanding of purpose and calling over the next 6 months. You mustn’t rush to get there now but must stop to rest and give thanks.
Suggested practice: set aside some time for yourself on the 21st and honor yourself for all the ways you’ve answered your calling. You’ve been guided this whole way. Your calling cannot be shaken and is perfectly known or unknown to you in this moment. Lean on that. Let the relentless presence of your calling become your constant companion, the guardian angel moving through life with you, protecting you, every single day.
xo,
Jules
P.S. If the concept of calling or purpose is a trouble spot for you, I highly recommend the very uplifting and insightful book: The Soul’s Calling, by James Hillman.
